Michael says goodbye to College after six years
Contemporary English cuisine is on the menu at West Nottinghamshire College’s Number 19 brasserie on the evening of 15th May as professional cookery student Michael White graduates from his course in style.
Michael, from Mansfield, will serve up a tasty selection to diners as he graduates from the catering course which has seen him develop some top class catering skills over almost six years.
Michael first joined the College back when he was 14 via the Schools' Academy link. Michael said: “Back then I was clueless and didn’t really know how to cook. However, I soon got a taste for the art of cookery and I was eager to learn more. I am so proud of the standards I can now reach.”
Michael went on to study his level 2 Professional Cookery course, soon followed by the level 3. He also gained experience in the kitchens at Royal Ascot in his first year as well as picking up some top tips from Mansfield’s Number 4 Wood Street restaurant.
Now he is looking forward to showing off his talents to diners at his graduation event, where guests can look forward to a starter of scallop and belly pork followed by monkfish or fillet steak main course and a chocolate selection dessert.
Michael added: “In the world of cookery I really rate Gordon Ramsey highly for both his business sense and his fierce creativity. I have aspirations to move abroad and try out the different foods and cookery styles of the world. I think it’s important to see how other cultures cook and enjoy their food.”
