Recycling creates cash for charity
An annual recycling initiative at West Nottinghamshire College has turned old printer cartridges into cash for a Mansfield homeless charity.

A cheque for £450 was presented to Tony Lee and Steve Doubtfire, chairmen of The Hall Homeless Support Project last week (19 December) by print team leader Alan Sheppard and procurement manager and procurement officer Angie Pilgrim and Garry Checklin.
The money was raised throughout the year by recycling printer cartridges used at the college and exchanging them for cash.
The college has supported The Hall Homeless Support Project for eight years now and this was just one of many donations given to the charity this year by the college to help homeless people who use the service at its St Peter’s Centre premises on Church Street.
Tony Lee said: “We’re deeply grateful as ever to the college for continuing to support the project. This money will go towards our running costs such as purchasing tea, coffee, milk and bread – the essentials for our service users. We get through lots of these basic provisions, serving over fifty cups of tea and coffee to people on the days we are open.
“We’ve also received donations from the college’s public services, sport and academic studies team through their annual fun run and with some of that money we’re going to buy a commercial toaster to cope with demand.”
