A time to remember
Students at West Nottinghamshire College joined together to show their respects at a remembrance service held at the Derby Road campus today (11 November).
David Addison delivered the remembrance service at the Derby Road campus
Two minutes silence was observed at 11am by over 500 learners at the service organised by the college’s Students’ Union.
Delivering the service was David Addison from Mansfield’s Bellamy Road branch of the Royal British Legion, supported by public services students who are members of the army, air and police cadets.
David said: “I was very impressed with the turnout of students today to come and remember service men and women. It’s very gratifying that young people are prepared to spend some time just thinking and remembering people who gave their lives in battle.”
David then spent some time looking at the display regarding armistice day which has been created by students from the school of academic, public services and sports studies before delivering a question and answer session to learners based on the work of the Royal British Legion.
