Double celebration at college
Achievements of students across the generations will be celebrated at two awards ceremonies at West Nottinghamshire College.
On Tuesday April 28 the hard work and success of young students will be recognised at the College’s annual Schools Academy Celebration of Achievement.
The event celebrates the efforts of 14 to 19-year-olds who attend College part-time from local schools and have gone on to achieve success on a wide-range of courses, overcome adversity or progressed to full-time employment.
The Schools Academy offers courses that schools would have difficulty in providing on their own premises. It is aimed at students who show ability but would benefit from a practical learning environment, and those who are not fully engaged in learning or have additional needs.
On Wednesday April 29 hard-working college students aged 19 and above will be honoured at the College’s annual Adult Learners Celebration of Achievement.
Awards will be presented to adult students on courses such as word processing, creative crafts and website design which are undertaken at various venues within the community.
Both events take place at the College’s Derby Road site in Mansfield.
Principal Asha Khemka OBE said: “These events give us a fantastic opportunity to reward students of all ages who have shown commitment and dedication throughout their studies.
“It’s always a pleasure to hear the students’ success stories and discover more about their learning journeys.
“Above all, it’s about shining the spotlight on the positive impact that learning has on people’s lives.”
