Show with Morrissey in mind
A one-man show blending wry comedy and music from a cult band comes to West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre next month.
Half a person will take you back to the 80s with music from The Smiths
Half a Person: My Life as Told by The Smiths by Alex Broun, tells the story of William, a twenty-something Londoner who drifts from coffee shop to bar, falling in love, self-obsessing and finding solace in The Smiths.
The show comes to Mansfield on Saturday 4 October having shown at various venues across the UK including a sell-out performance at The Lowry, in The Smiths’ hometown of Salford.
William’s life is torn between conflicting loyalties to the girl of his dreams and his best friend. It’s an emotionally charged, coming-of-age story, blending wry comedy with music from The Smiths sung live.
Joseph Murray plays the Smiths obsessive William while Simon Polinski and Colin Berwick recreate the music. The show was originally commissioned by Fly-On-The-Wall Theatre and Cross Cut theatre company has reworked this.
Tickets for the show cost £10, £8 for concessions and £5 for students and can be purchased by calling 01623 413363 or by visiting www.createtheatre.co.uk
