A case of foot in mouth at theatre
Professional theatre company, New Perspectives, is bringing a heart-warming comedy to Mansfield this February.
Him With His Foot in His Mouth
Him With His Foot in His Mouth by Saul Bellow is a hilarious one-man show about saying the wrong thing and character Harry Shawmut will be doing just that in a performance on 13 February at Create Theatre.
Harry once made an unkind comment to a lady in passing and now, years later, he has decided to apologise. But saying sorry isn’t always that straight forward. Harry uses the theatre audience to help rehearse the most elaborate apology in history, taking us through the contours of his hilarious, shocking and uniquely moving story.
The show, which has been adapted and directed by Jack McNamara, is the first ever stage adaptation of Saul Bellow’s award winning book which brings his Jewish humour to life and is part of New Perspectives’ mission to bring ground-breaking, culturally significant work to rural locations.
Theatre co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “It’s great to be welcoming New Perspectives back to Create Theatre again. They’ve performed with us every season since we opened and have fast become the leading company in rural touring and they’re building up a great audience base.
“Tickets are selling fast already for this comedy so we recommend buying early.”
The performance, which starts at 7.30pm, contains some strong language so is suitable for children over 14 years-of-age and adults. Tickets for the show cost £10, £8 for concessions and £5 for students and can be purchased by visiting the website at www.createtheatre.co.uk or by calling 01623 413363.
