Jade's eye for design
A graphic design student at West Nottinghamshire College will be seeing her creative work come to life after winning a logo design competition through Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Jade's design will be used by Nottingham Trent University's Outreach team
Jade Widdowson, 18, a student on the BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design came out tops in a competition set by NTU’s Outreach team to design a logo as part of their rebranding project.
Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach is the name of the team which organises and co-ordinates NTU's extensive range of programmes with schools, colleges and community organisations to promote higher education.
The competition was rolled out to school sixth forms and colleges in the East Midlands with the design brief asking for a logo that best describes Outreach and had to use the word within the finished product.
With over 120 schools and colleges invited to submit entries, Jade’s colourful design was selected as the winner, securing her a £20 Amazon voucher and the kudos of having her design used throughout the university’s advertising and marketing material.
Jade, from Mansfield, said: “This challenge was set as part of our preparing for work sessions to enable us to experience working for a real-life client.
“I’m really proud to have won – it’s something to feel good about and I can’t wait to see my design go live. I’ll be putting this in my portfolio ready for when I apply to go to university myself.”
Sharon Bains, communications assistant in the Schools, Colleges and Community Outreach Team said: “Jade’s design was chosen as it was fun, represented the work we do and will suit our audience very well. “
