And so to bed at Mansfield theatre
A 1970s farcical comedy is coming to Create Theatre for a double showing this month.
Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn features four married couples but four into three won’t go; except it does in this play. A pair of roving neurotics parade their problems around the bedrooms of the three other couples and what emerges is a hilariously bleak view of middle-class marriage.
The show, which is coming to Create Theatre courtesy of local Stagefright Theatre company on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 November, shows the fissures in other people’s marriages through Trevor and Suzannah’s selfishness.
Clever use of time and space makes this a very intricate and sophisticated comedy while also portraying the deteriorating and rebuilding of relationships among young couples.
Theatre co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “We’re delighted to have local dramatists Stagefright performing as part of our season at Create. It proves not only are we a home for the best in professional touring theatre, but we are also a platform for local, community and amateur arts provision.”
Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm cost £6 and can be purchased from Create Theatre by calling 01623 413363 or by visiting www.createtheatre.co.uk
