A healthy start to winter at West Notts
Students at West Nottinghamshire College are being encouraged to make a healthy start to winter, thanks to an event taking place next week.
Tips on healthy eating will be part of the Look Good Feel Good event at West Notts College
The ‘Look Good, Feel Good’ health event is being run by the health and welfare team at the college’s Derby Road campus on Wednesday (13 November) and will feature a number of stalls for students to visit as well as win prizes in competitions.
Advice will be offered on how food can affect mood, how to improve fitness levels and how sleep and relaxation can bring about good health.
At the event, which runs from 10am to 2pm, students will be able to get confidential advice on sexual health matters as well as take part in a rowing challenge and a press-up competition.
Students can speak to representatives from Mansfield’s Pure Gym about membership, as well as seek confidential advice on smoking cessation from the NHS New Leaf service and counselling advice from the town’s Shire Counselling service.
Staff from the college’s Students’ Union and the sports development team will be on hand along with the learner coaches to talk about the range of activities that students can get involved in while at the college.
Team leader for health and welfare Jamie Wragg said: “This is a great all-round opportunity for students to get a range of advice about their health and wellbeing.
“It’s designed to be both informative and fun and we hope that students will be able to take away plenty of knowledge to help them live healthy, balanced lives.”
