Apprentices know how IT works
A group of Sheffield apprentices with technical ‘know how’ have graduated from their studies at a celebration event.
A graduation ceremony, held on 13 June, saw ten apprentices from the KNOWHOW Customer Contact Centre on Nunnery Square, The Parkway, collect certificates of achievement from their one-year programme of study.
They were part of a group of 14 to recently complete an Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals through Vision Workforce Skills – a subsidiary of West Nottinghamshire College Group.
The training provider – which delivers apprenticeships in IT, creative and digital media, business administration, customer service and logistics to businesses across the UK – has an IT training centre at Milton House, Charter Row.
The learners secured their apprenticeships through sister company Vision Apprentices – an apprentice recruitment agency that matches young, local talent to the needs of employers.
Their apprenticeship has seen them gain an industry-recognised qualification alongside paid on-the-job experience.
The ten graduating apprentices have since gone on to secure full-time positions at KNOWHOW's Sheffield Customer Contact Centre, where they provide technical advice and support to customers after they have purchased their electrical goods.
Gillian McAllister, head of technical operations at KNOWHOW, said: “Our apprentices have worked incredibly hard and deserved to be recognised for their achievements at this graduation event.
“I’m delighted we have been able to provide ten of the apprentices with employment at our Sheffield Customer Contact Centre, where they will now go on to further develop their skills while delivering the high-quality and professional service that we pride ourselves on.”
KNOWHOW, owned by major European electrical retail group Dixons Retail, provides a range of technical support services to customers of UK-based Dixons retailers Currys and PC World.
