Principal, Asha Khemka Wins Asian Woman of Achievement Award
Celebrations are in order today as our very own Principal, Asha Khemka has scooped a prestigious Asian Woman of Achievement Award.
Last night (20th May), Asha won the Public Sector Award at a glittering ceremony at London’s Park Lane Hilton which was attended by the likes of Elizabeth Hurley, Cherie Blair & Sarah Brown, as well as the Chief Executive of the Association of Colleges, Martin Doel.
Asha says of her award, “It was a very special night indeed and it was very humbling for me to receive this prestigious recognition of the work I do.”
“I truly believe that if you have the courage, determination, ambition and drive to do something – then it certainly can be done. The journey I have made has been a challenging but hugely rewarding one. Needless to say, I could not have achieved my dreams without the love and support of my family. My husband is my biggest critic and my guide, and my children are my inspiration as well as our students at West Nottinghamshire College. They are my driving force. They make me proud and make my job worthwhile.”
Earlier this week it was also announced that Asha was among a group of Principals joining the Association of Colleges Board.
John Bingham, AoC Chair of the Board, said:
“Well deserved congratulations to Asha on this outstanding achievement. I am delighted that she is one of the new members of our Board. She reflects the high quality leadership within our sector and is a credit to her college and the people of Nottinghamshire.”
