School choir is pitch perfect
Mansfield school children have been behind the scenes recording songs at West Nottinghamshire College’s recording studio today (4 June).
The group of 26 year five and six pupils from High Oakham Primary School, Mansfield, visited the college’s music recording studio inside its Create building at the Derby Road campus to put a selection of pop melodies on CD.
Thanks to the technical skills of student Mark Philips, who is studying on his second year of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Music Technology programme, the children, who are all members of their school choir, had the chance to record a selection of tunes.
The group recorded their version of popular hits such as ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ by 1970s group Buggles and ‘This is Love’ by will.i.am.
Choir leader at the school Kayleigh Roberts said: “The children have been so excited to have the opportunity to record their songs at the college using high-tech equipment.
“They really enjoyed their time recording the CD which we’ll be selling at the summer fayre to raise money for the music department.
“They really impressed us today with their singing skills which they’ve worked hard on recently after singing at Young Voices concert at the Sheffield Arena.”
