Sport for all at college games
Staff and students at West Nottinghamshire College proved they were great sports at the ‘Vision Games’ last week.
Held in the sports hall at its Derby Road campus, Friday’s (24 May) sporting event followed on from last year’s first-ever Vision Games which was staged in conjunction with the London 2012 Olympics.
Games this year included badminton, fencing, sitting volleyball, visually impaired football and indoor rowing.
Over 75 students from four schools of learning took part and all competitors were awarded points which went towards final totals.
First place was secured by the creative industries and digital technologies school of learning, while second place went to students from academic studies, public services and sport studies. The care and education studies school of learning took third place.
Sport development team leader Colin Eley said: “We wanted to offer students this exciting and energetic opportunity to uphold the Olympic and Paralympic legacy and give them the chance to showcase the great variety of sporting talent from across the college.
“It was great to see students and staff from different areas of the college come together to have fun and compete in Vision Games 2013.”
Everyone who took part was given a certificate of achievement and winners of each game were awarded first place medals.
