Adventures on the high seas at Create Theatre
A classic poem is being transformed into a musical and highly physical gothic adventure at Create Theatre next week, thanks to Tangere Arts Theatre Company.
A Thousand Slimy Things is an adventure set on the high seas, full of doom and destruction, through Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s classic poem – The Rime of The Ancient Mariner and is an ideal set study piece for school children in years 7, 8 and 9.
The performance, on Thursday 30 May, directed and composed by Lewis Gibson will take the audience on a voyage of doom and destruction and into the murky depths of their imagination.
It is Tangere Arts’ preview performance and is part of a residency at Create Theatre. The show will not include full theatre lighting and is considered to be an open dress rehearsal before the show goes to Curve Theatre in Leicester.
Theatre Coordinator Adam Pownall said: “It’s a pleasure to have Tangere working in Create and the performing arts students have had the chance to work with both actor Gary Lagden and writer Sally Siner through various workshops.
“We’re so glad to house a Tangere production following the success of award-winning ‘Tin Soldier’ and ‘Hood in the Wood’”.
Tickets cost £1.50 and the show at 3pm is also recommended for school groups. To purchase tickets visit www.createtheatre.co.uk or call 01623 413363.
