Financial advice for enterprising minds

What makes a good business plan? How do I access funding? What does a bank look for in an entrepreneur? These are just some of the questions that young tycoons will be posing to financial experts at West Nottinghamshire College next week.

Guest speakers from Lloyds TSB will be on hand to advise members of the college’s Vision Entrepreneur scheme on financial matters on Tuesday (30 April) at the college’s Derby Road campus as part of a series of help and advice sessions offered to budding business minds.

The college will be welcoming Jeremy Prentice, relationship manager of East Midlands mid-markets, who currently manages a portfolio of 45 public and private organisations.

Also speaking at the session will be Mike Townroe, relationship manager for over 350 small and medium enterprises in Mansfield and Newark.

Joining Jeremy and Mike will be Tim Standley, manager of business development for the Midlands and North regions who has an in-depth knowledge of what banks look for when assessing lending requests.

Members of the scheme will be able to ask the trio, who have a combined 85 years of banking knowledge and expertise, about how to write a business plan as well as discover how to apply for business funding and loans from a bank.

Vision Entrepreneur has been set up to coach would-be business people from the college, local schools and the community through monthly sessions, which include inspirational speakers and tips from industry experts.  Those whose ideas have the most potential will receive one-to-one mentoring and the backing to develop their plans further.
