Find Joy at Create Theatre
A full-mask theatre company is staging a moving and heroic play at West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre in March.
Finding Joy by Vamos Theatre comes to Create on Saturday 9 March from 7.30pm to share a tale about Joy, a funny, creative lady who loves to dance and is losing her memory.
The play sees Joy’s rebellious and fearless grandson Danny decide to become her carer. The performance follows their story and will take the audience on an emotional and often funny journey, tackling the subject of dementia.
The play, which is part of the Village Ventures touring scheme, has been created in association with movement play specialists JABADAO and is based on life events and true stories and is performed by a cast of four who play more than 15 characters.
Finding Joy is performed as visual theatre and there is no spoken word during the performance which makes it suitable for deaf audiences.
The play is suitable for those aged 12 and above. It is not a children’s show, but very suited to a family audience with older children.
Tickets costs £9 per person with concessions costing £6. The show lasts approximately 1 hour 50 minutes with a 20 minute interval. To purchase tickets call 01623 413363 or visit www.createtheatre.co.uk
