Students to get cash clever
Managing money will be the topic of discussion for students at West Nottinghamshire College over the next few weeks.
The Barclays Money Skills Programme is being delivered to more than 800 students across all college campuses between 26 February and 22 March. Tutorial sessions have been designed to help students’ financial skills and knowledge while learning how to control their budgets to reduce money-related stress.
Students will have the chance to take part in discussions which will focus on things that they spend their money on such as food, fashion, family and independent living and they will be able to learn more about managing their budgets accordingly.
Student advisor Mark Cantrill said: “Learning to manage finances at an early age can be a daunting thing, so we hope that these advice sessions will help take some of the stress out of budget management for our students.
“In the current financial climate, most households are having to make cut backs in some way, so we’re making our students aware they have a role to play and can make a difference.”
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Barclays staff to some of our sessions to offer impartial advice and we’ll also be showing our students how they can earn cash at college through the Students’ Union’s Earn As You Learn initiative.”
