Talented bunch will travel
From cheerleading to comedy acts, students at West Nottinghamshire College showed their talents outside of the classroom today (Thursday 20 December) at a fundraising talent show.
First and second year learners on the level 2 and 3 travel and tourism programmes staged a Christmas talent show for staff and students, to raise money towards next year's residential trip to Cyprus.
The end of term event took place at the college’s Derby Road campus and featured comedy acts, dance routines, cheerleaders and audience participation acts.
Students are required to organise travel, accommodation and activities at a range of overseas destinations as part of their travel and tourism industry studies. Previous visits have included a visit to Barcelona, a cruise to the Canaries and a trip to New York.
Student Hayley Freeman, 18, from Mansfield, said: “This has been a very exciting event to organise for over 80 students and has given us and other students something to enjoy as the term comes to an end.
“Not only have we raised money towards our trip to Cyprus next year, but we’ve been improving our events management and organisational skills to bring everything together on time. We’ll be applying these same skills when we arrange the travel, accommodation and itinerary for the visit to Cyprus.”
