Enterprising festive market
It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas at West Nottinghamshire College as students get their stalls ready for a festive market.
The Christmas market will be open on Tuesday (4 December) from 10am-2pm at the college’s Derby Road campus. It will stock students’ hand-made products such as candles, greetings cards, decorations, tee shirts, Christmas puddings and a range of chutneys.
The market will give students who are starting up small businesses through the college’s enterprise programme the opportunity to sell their products to staff, students and the public.
Also attending the indoor market, which will be open to the public, will be pupils from Mansfield-based Wynndale Primary School who will be selling handmade Christmas sweets.
During the event the college’s sport development co-ordinator will be giving visitors advice on keeping active over the festive period while the student health and welfare team will be available to discuss wellbeing and staying safe at Christmas.
The Students’ Union and learner coaches will be on hand to raise funds for both CLIC Sargent and Help for Heroes charities through raffles and competitions as well as letting people know how to get involved in volunteering projects.
Enterprise and employability manager Cate Hunt said: “Not only is this a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and buy some unique hand made goods, but it’s also a chance for our young entrepreneurs to practice their sales and marketing techniques which they have been learning about during the enterprise project.
“Our students have been working hard this year researching their markets and designing and making their product ranges and I’m certain that their stalls will prove to be very popular at our Christmas market.”
