Curtain up on Shakespeare’s tragedy
The rise and fall of Macbeth and his wife will be played out at West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre this month.
The 500 year-old classic tragedy will be given a 21st century twist on Friday (30 November) by actors from Mansfield-based Expressions Academy of Performing Arts.
This modern version of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth tells the story of corruption and manipulation showing how misplaced ambition leads to the decline of a once decent and respected man.
Create Theatre co-ordinator Adam Pownall said: “This play will impress people of all ages as Expressions Academy turns this well-known classic into something that’s relevant to the modern world.
“We’re welcoming schools to join us as Macbeth is a popular text read in many schools and seeing this play may provide some good classroom debate.”
