Twenty years of dance comes to college venue
Nottingham Contemporary Dance Company (NCDC) will be bringing their current showcase to the stage at West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre.
Twenty is a collection of contemporary dance pieces along with a fusion of new, reworked and past dance projects being performed on Tuesday (27 November) from 7.30pm.
The dance company, which has been running for over 20 years, is in residence at Redhill Academy in Nottingham. The company runs weekly classes for arts professionals with a passion for dance to share their skills and be creative. The current company consists of local dance professionals, freelance artists and dance teachers at schools and colleges.
Damian Higgins of former Lion King and Starlight Express fame is a performer with the company. He said: “Twenty is set to be a diverse show packed full of the many dance pieces that the company have performed and created over the years as well as a showcase of some of our latest works.
“One of the pieces I have choreographed is a duet based on Jamaica’s 50 years of independence being celebrated this year and as I’m of Jamaican descent I’m looking forward to sharing this.
“This will be our first dance performance at Create and hopefully the first of many.”
