Berlin Cabaret comes to Mansfield
A cabaret set in 1930’s Berlin is set to entertain the crowds at West Nottinghamshire College’s Create Theatre next week.
Threesome Theatre Company’s performance, called ‘Berlin Cabaret’, will be showing over two nights (15 and 16 November) and features enticing dancing and naughty original songs.
The Berlin Cabaret girls and boys will take the audience on a journey of decadence and ignorance in this satirical look at Germany from the day the curtain went up in 1901, until the Nazi regime tore it down.
Create Theatre Co-Ordinator Adam Pownall said: “We’re looking forward to this show, a highlight of our first season; the company toured the piece to Edinburgh Festival in the summer, had great reviews and completely sold out.
“The content of the show is very risqué but handled brilliantly by the company, the performance is extremely funny, has great musical numbers and adds a new angle to the Hitler regime. You will never see Hitler in a similar light.”
Michaela Harris, co-director and choreographer for Threesome Theatre has an added incentive to bring the show to Mansfield.
She said: “I’m originally from Mansfield myself; I studied Musical Theatre at Expressions Academy before going to study at Derby University who supported us in creating the company. Now Mansfield has such a great venue in Create Theatre we hope to continue to bring future shows to my home town.”
The show, which starts at 7.30pm, is recommended for people aged 16 years and upwards as it features graphic images and scenes of a sexual nature as well as fascism and racism.
