Students are cash clever
Managing money was the topic of discussion among students at Vision West Notts last week (26-30 March).
Staff from Barclays bank including Mansfield’s assistant branch manager Dawn Perrie and other Barclays representatives visited the college to answer financial queries raised by students from all curriculum areas.
The Barclays Money Skills Programme is being delivered to more than 160 further education colleges across the country. The sessions have been designed to improve students’ financial skills and knowledge while learning how to control their budgets to reduce money-related stress.
Students took part in interactive sessions and discussions focussing on things which they spend their money on such as food, fashion, family and independent living and learnt how to manage their budgets accordingly.
Entitlement, enterprise and employability manager Cate Hunt, said: “Young people face so many challenges when it comes to managing finances. Many of our students are discovering financial independence for the first time and they really welcomed the advice from industry professionals.”
