Jewish fayre at college café
A Jewish-themed menu is on offer at Vision West Notts’ BAY6 Centre and coffee bar next week (12-16 March) to celebrate the Jewish holiday known as Purim.
Students and staff will be serving up a selection of food traditionally associated with Purim - the celebration to commemorate the time when Jewish people living in Persia were saved by the courage of a young Jewish woman called Esther.
Menu options include vegetable soup with Jewish challah bread for £1.50 and braised brisket with potato latkes for £2.70.
For dessert diners can enjoy Hamantaschen, which are strawberry-filled pocket cookies, for 30p or a slice of honey cake for 50p.
This is another opportunity for customers to sample themed meals at the centre on Woodhouse Road, Mansfield, which provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Food will be available from 10.00am to 2pm, with tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches also served during these times.
People can just turn up although parties of eight or more are advised to book a table for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on 01623 413027.
The BAY6 Centre is open to the public for hot and cold refreshments.
