Students’ canny way to help less fortunate
Kind-hearted students and staff at Vision West Notts have brought some Christmas cheer to two Mansfield homeless charities.
Over the last month learners and staff from academic studies, sports and public services have collected tinned and dried food, hats, gloves and blankets to donate to The Hall Homeless Support Project, in Westfield Lane, and The Beacon Project, in Wood Street.
The hampers, which include over 200 cans of food, will be handed over to charity bosses next week in order to provide the homeless and disadvantaged with food and clothing during the winter.
Skills for life tutor Marie Stacey said: “We’re so proud of the effort our students and staff have made in contributing to these community projects. We’ve had an incredible amount of food donated including dog food for homeless people who own a pet.
“One student donated 100 cans of food purchased with his own money. We hope that our donations can go some way to improving the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves this winter.”
