Vision’s got talent
Students at Vision West Notts will be proving they’ve got talent next week - all in the name of fundraising.
Second year learners on the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism are staging a Christmas talent show for staff and students on Thursday 15 December to raise money towards next year's residential trips.
The festive event takes place at the Derby Road campus from 11am to 3pm and features comedy acts, dance routines, magic shows and a quiz show, along with a tombola, raffle and tuck shop.
Students are required to organise travel, accommodation and activities at a range of destinations in the UK and abroad as part of their travel and tourism industry studies. Previous visits have included a week in the Gambia, a visit to Liverpool, a cruise to the Canaries and a trip to New York.
Sarah Heeley, programme area leader for travel and tourism, said: “Students have worked really hard to put together an exciting and entertaining end-of-term show to raise funds towards their trips in 2012, starting with a visit to Barcelona next May.
“There’s a real variety of talent amongst the learners and they've demonstrated a range of skills such as team-working and event management, which will stand them in good stead when it comes to seeking careers in the travel and tourism sector.”
