Bumper charity collection from college
Staff and students at Vision West Notts have totalled up their biggest-ever collection for Children in Need.
Beating last year’s total by over £600, staff and students have banked £1,872, raised through a range of fun activities and events in November.
Over £700 of the grand total was raised by childcare students who took part in a sponsored silence, a Pudsey bear treasure hunt, a male leg-waxing session and cake sales.
Students at the Academy – the college's town centre-based hair and beauty training salon – also contributed nearly £300 towards the collection by selling cakes and wearing pyjamas for the day in return for cash.
Access to higher education students at the Chesterfield Road campus donned fancy dress while raffling a selection of prizes which they secured from a range of Mansfield businesses.
Learner voice co-ordinator Sue Harries said: “Each year our students put such amazing effort into making Children in Need week a great success with their zany fundraising ideas.
"This is the most the college has ever raised for the charity and it proves staff and students are as caring and generous as ever, despite these financially challenging times.”
