School pupils get down to business
Schoolchildren will get a taste of the world of business next week when bosses at Vision West Notts deliver a special ‘masterclass’.
Year 11 pupils at Shirebrook Academy will be learning how to write a business advert and how to undertake a staff disciplinary on Tuesday (27 September) from marketing and learner engagement director Louise Knott, and human resources director Tracey Thompson.
They will also learn more about the study and career opportunities available in these industries and discover how such roles fit into the business world.
The event is taking place as part of national Colleges Week, which runs from Monday to Sunday (26 September to 2 October). Organised by the Association of Colleges and backed by hundreds of colleges and sixth-forms across the country, the theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Connecting with Communities’.
Miss Knott said: “We hope that the pupils will enjoy our masterclass and that it will help increase their knowledge of business and introduce them to industries they may not have heard of before.
“The college is hoping to plan further masterclasses in the community in the near future to help broaden people’s horizons when considering different aspects of study or employment.”
