Charity and cheese at college café
Students at Vision West Notts' BAY6 coffee bar and café and will be serving up a range of cheesy delights next week, as they celebrate British Cheese Week.
British Cheese Week runs from 24 September to 2 October and is backed by cheesemakers, restaurants, retailers and cheese-lovers across the country.
On the menu at BAY6 will be broccoli and stilton soup with a roll and butter for £1.50, macaroni and cheese bake or tomato and mozzarella tart – both served with salad – for £2.50 and British cheesecake with warm blueberries for £1.
Food will be available from 10.00am to 2pm throughout the week, with tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches also served during these times at the venue in Woodhouse Road, Mansfield.
The week will end with a fundraising twist on Friday 30 September when learners take part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ from 10am-12.30pm. Students will be selling cakes, running a ‘name the bear’ competition and challenging customers to guess how many sweets are contained in a jar, to raise funds for the national charity.
They will be joined by students from The Academy – the college's town centre-based hair and beauty training salon – who will be offering customers nail filing and painting in return for a small donation to the charity.
BAY6 is open to the public for hot and cold refreshments and provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
People can just turn up although parties of eight or more are advised to book a table on 01623 413027.
