College studies are more than ABC
Employees of local companies have been presented with technical certificates after completing training programmes at West Nottinghamshire College.
Eight workers have completed the 12-week Apprenticeship Business Course (ABC) as part of their apprenticeships.
The ABC covers a series of topics which are studied in addition to the NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration including health and safety, sustainability, equality and diversity, ICT, communications and presentation skills.
The employees who passed the ABC studied on a day-release basis at college. They work at Newark-based Advanex Europe Ltd and Mansfield firms Pellacraft, SMB Consultancy, Acorn Signs, Closures, Central Nottinghamshire Clinical Services, Mansfield Community and Voluntary Service and CCM Supplies.
Work-based learning tutor Clare Parker said: “I’m really pleased with how the ABC course has been received as it’s a first for our curriculum area. We’re extremely grateful to all the employers for their continued support of their apprentices.
“I’m very proud of the learners as they've all worked hard, passed their exams and been a great bunch to work with. We hope this scheme continues and that more local companies give their employees the opportunity to gain valuable business skills.”
