Birthday fun day for college nursery
Children aged from just a few months old to their early teens celebrated at a special 10th birthday party at West Nottinghamshire College this weekend.
The college’s Butterflies Day Nursery celebrated its 10th anniversary on Saturday (6 August) with a day filled with fun activities.
Special guests included some of the first babies and children to be cared for at the facility when it opened in September 2001.
To date, almost 400 children have gone through the doors at the purpose-built nursery, ranked ‘Good’ in the 2007 Ofsted inspection, which is situated within the grounds of the college’s Derby Road campus.
Throughout the fun day children enjoyed a bouncy castle, a cake and ice cream stall, face painting, a tombola and learnt about different animals such as owls, snakes and tortoises with the visiting animal handler.
Babies from six weeks old up to pre-school five-year-olds are cared for by its team of professionally-trained nursery nurses and the facility is open for children of college staff, students as well as members of the public.
Nursery manager Kelly Pickbourne said: “We have had a very successful ten years at the nursery and we’ve watched so many children develop and grow up and everyone had such a great day during the tenth birthday celebrations.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming more new faces next academic year – here’s to the next ten years!”
