Students bring a taste of New Zealand to college café
Learners at West Nottinghamshire College’s BAY6 coffee bar and café will be celebrating New Zealand’s history next week.
Waitangi Day on 6 February is an annual public holiday in New Zealand. Natives celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document, on that date in 1840.
Students at the centre in Woodhouse Road, Mansfield, will be joining in with the spirit of New Zealand by serving up traditional cuisine from Tuesday to Friday (8-11 February). Dishes on offer will be leek and potato soup for £1.50 followed by a lamb hotpot with vegetables, rosemary and crusty bread. Dessert will be New Zealand pavlova with kiwi fruit and strawberries for 50p.
Food will be available from 10.00am to 2pm, with tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches also served during these times.
People can just turn up although parties of eight or more are advised to book a table on 01623 413027.
BAY6 is open to the public for hot and cold refreshments and provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
