Students to give charity a fresh new look
West Nottinghamshire College students will be getting their paintbrushes and rollers out next week to give the offices of a Mansfield-based charity a make-over.
A group of 20 male and female learners on the painting and decorating level two construction diploma will be transforming counselling rooms and offices at Disability Nottinghamshire – a charity which promotes the independence and choice for people with disabilities and impairments in the Mansfield area.
The students, who are based at the college's Construction and Logistics Skills Academy in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, will put their creative skills to the test by painting and wallpapering, undercoating and glossing woodwork, as well as applying some decorative effects to the rooms, between Monday 7 and Friday 11 February.
Tutor David Cope said: “These students were keen to do some work for the local community and I’m really proud that we’re able to help this local charity freshen up their office environment.
“I’m looking forward to watching their progress during the week and seeing them apply their newly-developed decorating skills for a worthwhile cause. We’re very grateful to Crown Paints for the donation of the paint for this project.”
