Students face the evil sheriff in the forest
Personal training and gym instructor students at West Nottinghamshire College are resting up after a physically challenging weekend at Sherwood Pines.
The group of 20 NVQ fitness learners took part in the Robin Hood Adventure Challenge (16 October) which saw them putting their energies into two different events.
Some of the group took part in the ‘Evil Sheriff’ off-road duathlon where they endured a 5km run followed by a 16km bike ride, completing with a 3km run. Other students chose the Robin Hood 10km trail run through the forest.
Programme area leader for sport, Lindsey Wilson, said: “This was an exciting and challenging event and the students went beyond what they believed they were capable of, completing with some impressive times.
“Many of them had never competed in a duathlon before so it was great to see them competing with professional athletes as well as engaging with the local community.”
