Cash and kindness for wildlife rescue
Students raising money for Mansfield Wildlife Rescue
Animal care students have raised an incredible £524 for the charity Mansfield Wildlife Rescue, courtesy of fun, games, and the sale of tasty treats and cute animal-related items in the Derby Road atrium on Wednesday.
Level 2 students teamed-up with the entry 3 animal care group in foundation studies to run stalls selling home-made cakes and bakes, items such as animal-themed crochet keyrings and badges, and wooden drinks coasters.
There was also a tombola and games including guess the number of sweets in the jar, guess the animal, and guess the name of the panda.
Alice Clewes, lead Introduction to Animal Care E3 tutor within foundation studies, said: “I’m incredibly proud of all the students involved in the event – from those who baked cakes, fudge, cookies and dog biscuits or came up with activities and made products to sell, or sold tickets at the tombola. They did an incredible job in talking to students and staff, sharing out responsibilities and self-managing their stalls. Some even learned how to use the card-reader, so I was able to help elsewhere.
“The level 2 animal care students were also very helpful in guiding the foundation studies learners.
“They all did a brilliantly, and I’m sure Cheryl from Mansfield Wildlife Rescue will be very grateful for their efforts.”
