Student views sought on partnership’s website

Students confidently gave their feedback on the website

T Level and level 2 and 3 computer science students welcomed members of Nottinghamshire Police’s Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) into the classrooms this week.

The VRP is a partnership that brings together specialists from local government, health, education, policing and criminal justice to work with communities and the third sector to reduce serious violence and tackle its underlying causes.

The partnership understands that intervening early prevents issues emerging, ensuring that children, young people, families and communities in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County thrive.

Education project support officer Carly McKinney, project support officer Emma Lau and media and communications officer Robbie Andrews set students the task of testing their website, with the aim of feeding back on aspects including the accessibility of the site through different devices, plus the layout and accessibility of pages and links. Students were also asked if they would consider any recommendations for the improvement of the website.

Work placement officer Sarah Osborne said: “This was the perfect opportunity for our students to engage with an employer and showcase their knowledge of website development.

“The students gave positive and constructive feedback both verbally and via a Microsoft Form, which they will provide to the VRP.

“We’re looking forward to finding out how the VRP will move forward with the feedback the students have given.”

Carly said: "We were given the opportunity by the college to work in partnership with students from the computer science department. This allowed the VRP website to be explored by the students, who provided feedback on positives and recommended areas of improvement.

“The students and staff were welcoming, enthusiastic and 100% engaging. The knowledge they shared excelled our expectations.

“Thank you for allowing us this opportunity and we look forward to any future partnership work."
