All the fun of the fair
The annual Welcome Week fair was another resounding success, seeing plenty of students new and returning come along to socialise and get involved in the fun and games.
From Tuesday to Thursday students from across all campuses came away with plenty of goodies, offers to join clubs, societies and gyms and got some great advice from our teams within the college.
Take a look at just a snapshot of some of the energy and fun captured which included games such as the inflatable obstacle course, mini golf, sumo wrestling and the silent disco.
Students were amazed by aerial dancer Alex Ross who performed and held workshops using the silks and the hoop.
Fran Hammond brought in horses Gordon and Silver while animal care held tours in the unit.
Top information on health, wellness and fitness was brought to students by Nottinghamshire Police, Mind, Nidas, C-Card, Sexions, Women’s Aid, Healthy Family Team, Walking 4 Hope and Pure Gym.
Guide Dogs UK visited with their trainee guide dogs, while careers and higher education advice was offered by a range of universities, the Royal Marines and Royal Navy, and the Young Carers Association.
And to keep everyone fed and watered the delights of Disco Fries, Zenzerro’s Wood Fired Pizza catered for the savoury tummies with Project D and a local ice cream van tempting the sweet-toothed customers.
A massive well done to duty head Beth Parkin for organising, arranging, stage-managing and problem solving throughout the whole event complete with a radiant smile – she most certainly deserves to have a relaxing weekend!
Beth said: “It was fantastic to see students engaging in all the activities and connecting with each other. The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many saying the event helped ease their transition into college life.”
