Puddings, pies and cakes at college cafe
Students at West Nottinghamshire College’s BAY6 Centre and coffee bar are getting the rolling pins and flour out next week to celebrate National Baking Week (18-22 October).
Food being served at the Woodhouse Road-based cafe will be based around home-baked puddings and pastries.
National Baking Week is now in its third year. This year the campaign is urging Britain to bake and share and the theme of community is strong.
The BAY6 Centre will be doing their bit once again for the community by inviting a local Age Concern group from Mansfield for a coffee morning on the Thursday (21 October). The group of pensioners will enjoy drinks and snacks at the centre served by students.
Menu options on offer during National Baking Week include spiced roasted butternut squash soup with goat’s cheese croutons, chicken, ham and leek pie with mashed potato and for dessert there’s chocolate and pear upside-down pudding
People can just turn up although parties of eight or more are advised to book a table for by calling 01623 413027.
The college’s BAY6 centre provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities and the cafe is open to the public for hot and cold refreshments.
