‘Warehousing to wheels’ – a pathway towards supplies and logistics roles
A pre-employment training course at West Nottinghamshire College is gearing people up to get an insight into the supply chain and logistics sector, while equipping them with interview skills to boost employment chances.
The Warehousing and Storage and Customer Service course is coming to West Notts
The Warehousing and Storage and Customer Service Level 1 qualification will enable students to learn the following skills, before progressing onto the NVQ Level 2 in Driving Goods Vehicles course and gaining a Category C (class 2) large goods vehicle driving licence.
- Wrapping and packing goods in a logistics environment
- Picking goods in a logistics environment
- Using equipment to move goods in logistics facilities
- Understanding health and safety legislation
- Keeping work areas clean in a logistics environment
- Driving hours, safety around a vehicle, vulnerable road users
- Personal health and customer services
- Interview techniques and a thorough understanding of what a driving role will entail.
The course, which will be delivered over five full days, commences on Monday 7 March at the college’s Derby Road campus. Before the course start date there will be an information and selection day held on Thursday 3 March from 10am.
It is hoped that this Level 1 course will run on a monthly basis throughout the remainder of 2022.
Prospective candidates must already hold a B car full driving licence with less than six penalty points.
The course is open for those aged over 19. It is free for the unemployed and in receipt of a means-tested benefit or those earning less than £17,374 per year.
