Hairdressing and beauty therapy students celebrate success
Hairdressing and beauty therapy students from Mansfield town-centre’s ‘Academy’ took to the stage this week (9 June) at their annual celebration of achievement event.
Over thirty students studying on apprenticeships in hairdressing, beauty therapy and the new university-level foundation degrees as well as employer engagement students, were given achievement awards by special guests Tracy Cooper - owner of Mossop’s hair salon in Mansfield Woodhouse, Katie Lunn-Andrews - senior learning and development officer from Nottinghamshire Constabulary and Bally Aujla who owns Expectations beauty salon in Mansfield.
Associate director of learning for hairdressing and beauty therapy, Diane Lacey, said: “Our annual celebration of achievement event recognises the progress and success of our learners over the whole academic year. Not only do we congratulate students with excellent skills but also those who have progressed and travelled the furthest on their learning journeys.”
Also at the event students took the opportunity to present the college’s Students’ Union team with a cheque towards their forthcoming trip to Ghana. Hairdressing and beauty therapy students raised over £440 by carrying hair and beauty treatments during enterprise week earlier this year.
