High-standard employer training recognised at college

West Nottinghamshire College has gained a national accolade for its work with businesses across the country.

The college has been awarded the prestigious Training Quality Standard (TQS) which recognises organisations that deliver high-quality and flexible training to employers.

Awarded by the Skills Funding Agency, it assesses an organisation’s responsiveness to employers, excellence in delivering training, commitment to continuous improvement and specialisation around industry sectors.

Organisations holding the Standard have been rigorously assessed to ensure they have the capability, track record and customer endorsement to make them a good choice for businesses looking to re-skill or up-skill their workforce.

The award to West Notts reflects its excellence in employer engagement across the whole of its employer-led curriculum activity both on-campus and in the workplace.

Head of employer engagement, Sandra Cowley, said:  “We’re extremely proud to receive this national kite mark as only the very best training providers achieve the TQS standard.  It’s great to be able to validate our on-going commitment to working with our employers to deliver relevant and up-to-date training that achieves measurable benefits to a business’ bottom line in today’s challenging economic environment.

“It’s this approach that has made us the training provider of choice for hundreds of local, regional and national companies.”

The accreditation process included a three-day intensive assessment of the college’s strategic focus, its response to employers’ training and development needs and the impact its training has on them.

Last year the college delivered £17.5m worth of training to almost 600 businesses across the UK; helping more than 8,000 employees achieve a wide range of qualifications and programmes including apprenticeships, advanced apprenticeships, NVQs and Skills for Life.
