West Notts gets World Cup fever
Students from West Nottinghamshire College got into the sporting spirit last week as they joined a local school for friendly five-a-side football games.
In celebration of the upcoming World Cup, teams from all college sites entered a football tournament at Mansfield Rugby Club, joining teams from Samworth Church Academy’s Sixth form.
The college's sport development co-ordinator, Rachael Evans, said: “Some great goals were scored during the tournament and it was a closely fought contest with a number of teams taking part. However, Samworth Church Academy team ‘one’ were the eventual winners by just one point and took home the trophy.
“It was a successful event and all teams were enthusiastic and showed some good football skills and team spirit. It would be great to do this again in the new academic year.”
