Emily Simms and Naomi Lord from NYX Professional Make-up presented a full make-up demonstration featuring some of the latest products, to hairdressing and theatrical and media make-up students.

The demonstration focused on the art of highlighting and contouring, followed by applying a vivid colour palette to the eye. Hairdressing student Helena Bushell was the model selected to have the make-up applied and her look was completed with false eyelashes and an ombre shaded lip.

Students were able to ask questions throughout the demonstration about techniques and the best ways to achieve results on their own models.

Education executive and make-up artist Emily Simms spoke to students about the best brushes and tools to achieve certain looks on clients and let students see the make-up palettes up close.

Beauty therapy tutor Lara Gifford said: “This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to see a very detailed and artistic demonstration of the NYX range of make-up. Everyone was really engaged in how the overall look was created.

“The session enabled learners to ask questions about both refining their own techniques and career-based questions relating to the industry they’re working so hard to be a part of.”

Theatrical media make-up student Jade Miller, 17, said: “It’s been very informative and I’ve learnt so much about the correct techniques as well as how to put yourself across professionally as a make-up artist.

“It was good to be able to feel the different textures of all the make-up palettes to know how well they’d apply to the face.”

Students were able to ask Emily and Naomi a range of industry questions and hear more from them about life as make-up artists.  Each student was offered a 20% discount on future NYX Professional purchases.
