Politics on the menu
Lively political debate was on the lunchtime menu today (Tuesday 4 May) when Mansfield MP Alan Meale visited West Nottinghamshire College to talk to students.
Labour's Mansfield parliamentary candidate for the May 6 elections took questions from BTEC travel and tourism students during a visit to the busy diner at the college's Derby Road campus.
It followed last week's visit by Jason Zadrozny, Liberal Democrat candidate for Ashfield; Eddie Smith, Independent candidate for Ashfield; Tracy Critchlow, Conservative candidate for Mansfield; André Camilleri, Independent candidate for Mansfield; and Mark Spencer, Conservative candidate for Sherwood, who all took questions from students across a range of issues during an hour-long lunchtime debate.
Learner voice co-ordinator Sue Harries said: "It's been great to see students engaging with parliamentary candidates and quizzing them about their policies on the range of issues. It is encouraging that many of our students are taking a keen interest in the forthcoming elections and want to know how it affects their futures."
