College welcomes French visitors
Three French students have been visiting Mansfield over the last two weeks finding out more about the engineering curriculum offered by West Nottinghamshire College.
The trio, from Ingersheim in the Alsace region of France are students at the Lycée Polyvalent De Schwendi and have spend a fortnight work shadowing at West Nottinghamshire College’s ‘Engine’ based on Sovereign Way in Mansfield.
They’ve also be helping students with their French language skills and visiting local engineering companies to gather more information on British engineering techniques.
BTEC National Diploma engineering students from West Notts have had the opportunity to ask the French students more about the Lycée in the lead up to their exchange visit which will take place week commencing 25 April.
Brian Malyan, associate director of learning for engineering and transport at the college, said: “We’re very keen to show the French students the very best of the college’s engineering facilities as well as introduce them to some of our business employer links.
“This is a beneficial relationship for both the students from Ingersheim as well as our students who are looking forward to going to France at the end of the month when they will visit the Lycée Polyvalent De Schwendi in order to work shadow the students and learn more about the French engineering industry as well as improve their language skills.”
