Students to hold fundraising event for local families
An evening of fundraising fun is in store for local families over Easter, which will be hosted in Kirkby-in-Ashfield by students at West Nottinghamshire College.
The event, which takes place at the Festival Hall on Sunday 4 April from 7-11pm, will have face painting, prize raffles, live music and many other fun activities for all the family and will raise funds for the college’s second visit to Ghana.
Tickets cost £3 per adult, who can bring their children along for free. Sales from the tickets are going towards the college’s next visit to Ghana this summer when ten students travel to Mpraeso, Africa, to continue with the community work that was started there last year. The trip will be entirely funded by donations and sponsorships.
Students’ Union president Luke Frakes said: “Our second visit to Ghana this summer will enhance the personal development of our students as well as helping the communities in Ghana.
“Students from all areas of our curriculum will be going to Africa, such as brickwork students who are going to construct out-buildings for the pupils at the school in the village of Mpraeso. We will also be helping to teach the children during our two-week stay.
“We hope that the people of Kirkby-in-Ashfield and surrounding areas come along to support our fun event and join in the fun.”
Tickets can be purchased by calling Helen on 07543 837193.
