College to offer lectures to the public
This month sees the start of a series of free lectures at West Nottinghamshire College’s Derby Road campus, which are open to the public as well as students.
The first in the series kicks off with Phil Stant, former SAS bomb disposal expert and professional footballer, will deliver a humorous and motivational talk on Thursday 25 March.
This is followed in April with Fraser Doherty, the founder of “SuperJam” and ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year (UK)’ and ‘Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year (2007). He will deliver a talk to inspire entrepreneurs on Thursday 22 April.
Dr Gillian Evans will be the guest speaker in May, when she delivers a talk on "Educational Failure and Working Class White Children in Britain.” This will be on Thursday 20 May.
The final lecture in the series will be hosted by Anabel Jay who will deliver a hands-on demonstration of “The Secret weapon of the suffragette; The evolution of the ladies hat with the emancipation of women”. Anabel’s lecture will be on Thursday 17 June.
HE co-ordinator Nicki Senior said: “We’re very proud to be hosting some inspirational speakers to the college over the coming months. It’s a pleasure to be able to offer these free spaces to the public as well as members of the college.
“This takes us even closer to providing aspects of a university as our higher education curriculum continues to grow.”
The lectures will all take place in the Vision Centre at the Derby Road site at 6pm-7pm.
