Trio to serve up an eight-course delight
Three students within the catering curriculum at West Nottinghamshire College are getting the plates warm for a massive eight-course tastebud tempter next week as they graduate from their Level 3 courses.
Radhia Mutuma and Mark Jessop, both 20, are studying on the NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery. They will join fellow student Rebecca Draycott, 19, who is studying on the NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality and Supervision for an evening of fine dining where all their skills will be put together to impress diners at their graduation event.
The trio have worked hard over the last three years on their courses and will be serving eight courses of fashionable and up-and-coming dishes to diners on the evening of 26 February at the college’s Number 19 Brasserie.
Mark said: “We’ve had a very fulfilling time at West Notts and are really looking forward to showing off our catering and hospitality skills next week. We’ve all been really fortunate to try both sides of the business. Radhia and I will be busy cooking in the kitchens while Rebecca will manage the front of house side of things.”
The menu includes dishes such as smoked cheese ravioli with two pepper sauce for starters or wood pigeon with red pepper chutney, a main fish course of monkfish and a vanilla and tarragon espuma for dessert.
All three have ambitions to take their skills further in the future, with Radhia planning to go to America to improve her professional cookery skills, eventually settling in Africa where her family are from. Mark is keen to travel to New Zealand and own his own restaurant and Rebecca has set her sights on living and working in London.
Rebecca will also be hosting a week of Greek themed lunches in the brasserie next week (Tuesday 23 – Friday 26 February) in the lead up to their finalé graduation evening.
Bookings are being taken on Tel (01623) 413629.
