Students to bring early Christmas cheer to care home
West Nottinghamshire College students will be bringing some early festive cheer to an Ollerton care home this week.
Students from the hospitality, art and design, and beauty therapy schools of learning will visit residents at Pathfinders-Care Home this Wednesday afternoon (2 December) with deliveries of home-made cakes and food hampers.
Pathfinders-Care Home caters for people with neurological disorders and offers day care, long-term care and respite care, along with independent living training for patients.
Students from the college’s BAY6 Centre will be joining in the visit. The centre, in Woodhouse Road, Mansfield, provides a practical training and working environment for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
Sam Cooling-Severns, Students’ Union events co-ordinator, said: “Many of our students are visiting the care home and taking hampers of food and toiletries that people at college have donated. We will also be offering mini-manicures to residents.
“We know that not everybody in care have relatives who can visit them so we thought it would be nice to take them our good wishes and gifts in the lead up to Christmas.
“Some of our own students from the BAY6 Centre will also be interacting with the residents and engaging in some fun activities.”
