Football fundraising fun at college
Players from Spain, Italy, Sweden, Albania, Croatia and France were just some of the nations represented on West Nottinghamshire College’s football pitch yesterday (25 May).
Students from across the college took part in ‘West Notts Euro 2016’ and team Sweden took the champion’s cup.
The football tournament, made up of eight teams of students, was organised by learners from the BTEC Business Diploma Year 2. As part of the diploma the class were challenged to organise and run an event.
The afternoon’s finals saw Sweden beat England 3 – 1 and a £50 prize and trophy cup was awarded to them by the college’s sport development team leader Rob Shaw.
Business diploma student Jakub Olszewski said: “Our group has worked enthusiastically to set up this event and the rain certainly didn’t put anybody off.
“It was a great tournament and everyone joined in the fun. Well done team Sweden on their win and we’re looking forward to donating our fundraising pot of £93 to Framework, a Mansfield-based homeless charity.”
